Walking In the Dark

My entry today regards walking in the dark. To walk a path that is undetectable doesn’t really make a lot of sense. Yet in a manner of speaking, many people walk a path that is filled with fear and uncertainty. Uncertainty about the path they’re on, where this path leads are but a couple of anxieties that present themselves to the traveler. Because the path is really dark then each step is overwhelmingly exhaustive.

I hold up for the reader to consider that darkness may be the absence of light or it may be ignorance of the light’s presence. If you were not aware of the spiritual light that dwells within you then it would make sense for you to say that there is no spiritual light dwelling within me. Obviously the light I am speaking of is not visible light but rather more inclined to understanding or awareness.

I cannot convince anyone that such Light exists. It is not seen with the naked eye. Rather, it is experienced within the soul and psyche of humanity. When this Light has yet to be experienced then all sorts of substitutes seek to fill the void and this is all based on belief. Usually what fills the void is what the naked eye sees. The Source of this Light is Spirit and Love. When this Light has yet to be noticed then as humans, we seek to fill the void with what the world has to offer. The unfortunate disadvantage of such human activities places them in seeking reliance on things and status.

The more the ignorance of the Light prevails the more the desire for worldly possessions increase. Attached to such desire includes envy and covetousness, wanting what others have and if you don’t have the wherewithal to obtain it then stealing may be considered. This desire for things increases exponentially and once your obtaining has been successful then defending your possessions takes center stage. All the while the Light that dwells within you has been ignored and the path you have walked has been in the dark.

The scriptures indicate that men love darkness rather than light because their deeds are evil. Iris Lohrengel in her book Born From Above, What Jesus Really Said explains it like this: “Not recognizing the light results in ‘condemnation’ in Greek krisis. The principal meaning of krisis is ‘separation’  but it also means, depending on the context, ‘giving an opinion, making a decision or judgement.’ ‘Condemnation’ is the result of our separation from God, separation not in the sense of being disobedient or rebellious, but separation in the sense of believing oneself to be separate individuals who exists independently from and outside of God.”

When we are not aware of the Spiritual Light that dwells within us you can rest assured that your life is full of condemnation,  judgement and darkness. You may not even be aware of your predicament because your attention has become focused on your worldly possessions. And until you see it you will be blind to it. I cannot convince you that this Light dwells within you but the moment you stop long enough to honestly inquire you just might leave the dark and step into the Light.
